2 prenatal visits, of 1-2 hours each...

  • Prenatal support and education
  • Assistance in writing your birth plan
  • Discuss and practice comfort measures and relaxation techniques helpful in labour
  • Discuss the benefits of breastfeeding and answer any questions

Attendance at the birth...

  • Phone contact during pre- and early labour
  • Continuous, ongoing emotional, physical and informational care, assistance and support for you and your partner throughout active labour and birth
  • Assistance and advice on comfort measures such as use of water, patterned breathing, relaxation, massage, vocalization, positioning, rhythm and ritual, etc.

Post-partum support

  • 1-2 hours post-partum support - assist with breastfeeding and encouraging intimate contact (skin to skin); ensure you and your partner have food; answer any questions
  • On call for the next month to assist with breastfeeding and addressing any other questions or concerns
  • Unlimited phone and email contact

Post-partum visit

  • A visit at one month post partum to provide you with a keepsake birth story and to offer support and referrals when necessary

 

fees for services

It is my philosophy that all that all women are provided access to a doula, regardless of their ability to pay for the service. A volunteer service is also available for low income and teenage mothers.
